“My plan is to continue making meaningful creative documentaries and tell stories about people and subjects close to my heart.”

about
Moviola Productions was founded to showcase the work of Maria Viola Craig, a woman who’s living proof that it’s never too late to fulfil your dreams.
At the end of her business career, Maria decided to pursue her lifelong passion for film and followed her dream by studying Film and Spanish at the University of Stirling, which included an Erasmus semester at the Carlos III University film school in Madrid.
Maria was an award-winning student, graduating in 2017 at the top of her year. Her dissertation documentary, Hear Me Now, won two Royal Television Society Awards — both in Scotland and across the UK. She went on to complete a Master’s in Screenwriting at Screen Academy Edinburgh.
Since graduating, Maria has gone on to make a number of documentaries. Notably, her short documentary Killing Myself Laughing has won three awards.
In 2021 she was commissioned by BBC Scotland to make a 30-minute documentary Growing Up Green to coincide with the COP25 World Climate Conference in Glasgow.
