Film Description
Our story focuses on Dawn, a middle-aged woman who gives up her fast-paced life in London, leaving the world of P.R. Consultancy behind to care for her seriously ill father in the North of Scotland. However, she reflects on how unprepared she was for the deep, painful grief and loneliness she experienced following his death.
Instead of drowning in her sorrow, Dawn decides to use her father’s legacy to support other women through difficult situations and at the same time, indulge in one of her values in society by encouraging a circular economy in fashion.
Dawn sets up a social enterprise, a shop where pre-loved clothes are sold, encouraging women to buy beautiful items already in circulation, rather than increasing the consumption of new fashion. But this is no ordinary shop, it is the’ Chocolat’ of the North, a warm, welcoming space where Dawn and her willing volunteers, who have also recently lost loved ones, create a support network for women facing various challenges, including picking up the pieces of life after loss.
Through Dawn’s bubbly personality and willingness to be honest about her feelings, the little shop on the high street in Nairn, ‘Daisy and Stanley` soon becomes a hub of love and support for women of all ages and backgrounds to visit for a little bit of TLC.
Dawn’s story is a testament to the power of love, the importance of connection, and the beauty that can emerge from the depths of despair. As she continues her journey, she carries with her the wisdom that healing is not a linear path but a winding road filled with moments of joy, sorrow, and profound growth.
